Kalu's camel safari and horse riding with overnight camping in desert of Pushkar !

There are so many camel safaris services, in Pushkar, Rajasthan, that, it is difficult to make a choice, that, which one to hire to have the best experience.

However, me as a regular visitor of Pushkar since 35 years, because of the natural beauty of the small Pushkar lake, surrounded by temples has attracted me in all seasons.

6 years ago, first time, I happen to take a camel safari with some German friends, to spend a night in sand dunes surrounding Pushkar, in tents.

Our group of 4 German friends and me, one Indian, happen to meet, Kalu, in middle of the market of Pushkar, where he has his small counter opposite Lake view hotel. We asked him the price to take us on Camels in the evening to Desert, arrange food and tents for us so we could have this experience. 

At 3 pm, our, 2 camel carts with 2 Camels called Ganesh and Krishna, were ready, decorated, with colorful attire of camels, with comfortable cushions in carts, to take us in Desert.

We climbed in carts, and some of us chosen to seat atop Camels itself. The journey to desert started in slow movement, no hurry, as we had all the the evening for us. We reached on our spot of camping exactly at the time of sunset. While, we were chatting among friends, Kalu and his team of camel men were pitching the tents for us.

Soon all was ready and party started, with small music, which we carried with us, Camels were freed to rest, feed and drink water. We also carried 2 Charpoy with us to seat or sleep on mattresses in open sky.

Other side Camel men were preparing the famous local food called, Dal Bati and Churma !

It was around 7.30 to 8 PM, we put the camp fire and waiting for delicious food to be served to us. 

Soon came the food, with chilled mineral water and everybody was enjoying this great food as we were all very hungry after the bumpy Desert ride on camel carts and camels.

By 9 PM everybody finished having dinner, and then, around campfire, started the jokes, tells and stories of, every one's travel experience in India.

By midnight, some of us went to sleep in tents and some chosen to sleep in open on Charpoy under star filled open sky. Climate was good, neither warm nor cold.
